Charleston Vets Connect with Jobs Resources at Hiring Fair

The Hiring Our Heroes job fair Thursday in North Charleston drew more than 400 veterans seeking employment opportunities.

The event—sponsored by the SC Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW), SC Works, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Charleston Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the American Legion, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, and NBC News—featured more than 75 employers and vendors.

DEW Executive Director Cheryl Stanton welcomed participants as part of the event’s Welcome Home opening ceremony that honored all veterans who have served. She encouraged job seekers to visit DEW’s employment representatives on site at the event as well as the employers in attendance.

Ernie Lombardi from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Hiring Our Heroes said the Charleston event was one of 500 such job fairs being held throughout the nation this year.

Hiring Our Heroes comes back to South Carolina next month with a job fair in Beaufort. The event will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at the South Carolina National Guard Armory, 1 Calvary Lane in Beaufort. Register and learn more at http://hoh.greatjob.net/.
